Sonoda Family Reunion 2006

Lake O'Neill, Camp Pendleton, CA

This is just part of our family. There were about 111 people enjoying the sun and fun.

The 1000 pound obstacle course was a big hit.

Mall of the Emirates, Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Chris had an interesting trip to the mall...
(I copied some information from an architecture web site)
huge skyscrapers everywhere

mile long dock

Mall of the Emirates located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is one of the largest shopping malls outside of North America. But that is not what makes it unique. Although the Mall features the usual amenities of a large shopping center, its claim to fame is something altogether new for a desert environment... specifically, a one-of-a-kind indoor ski complex.

Hmm, Barbie looks a little different to me...

Ski Dubai: Ski Dubai is housed inside a huge 22,500 m2 metal fuselage packed with plenty of groomed artificial snow. The first indoor ski destination in the Middle East, the nearly six acre dome houses five runs (some even black diamond) and a real chairlift that rises some thirty levels. Temperatures are kept at a constant -2o C.

And of course....No mall is complete without a McDonald's and a Starbucks!

Emily's New Smile

She lost one tooth yesterday and the other one today. She immediately wanted a drink with a straw so she could test out her new gap!

Play Time!

He's not yet tall, but definitely getting dark and handsome! (the swim lessons have given him that tan)

Message From Chris

From Chris (he left Dubaii and is now headed toward Thailand): "These are pictures from the Port Royal. One of the ships that we are traveling with. Its a destroyer a little bit smaller than the Ogden."
"Well the seas continue to stay rough, 8 to 9ft swells right now. I went outside for a little while this morning. Water was crashing over the front of the ship. I continue to spend a lot of time in the rack, best place to avoid sea-sickness. So far I haven't got sick. Everyone else is doing the same thing. When you walk around the ship, there isn't a lot of activity. Heard that the seas will remain rough for another few days. I haven't been to the gym for a few days, I may attempt it even while things are rough because I want to do something."

Umm...I guess somebody wanted Peanut Butter!

Yes, he climbed up here and did this all by himself...luckily, Paige had already eaten all the peanut butter.
